office hours

My office hours for Fall 2022 are Tuesday & Thursday 12:30 to 2:30pm and by appt. I like to meet students in Cafe at Barnes & Noble because it's close by our class and provides a lovely atmosphere (plus snacks & coffee are nearby!).
You can reach me at [email protected]. Please email to set up an appt!

Hi There! I'm Cindy Kopp, and I am an instructor in the Writing Arts Department at Rowan University. Mostly I teach courses in the First-Year Writing program. For my personal bio please read on:

In terms of my scholarship, I earned my Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition & Teaching at the University of Arizona. My dissertation is titled "Narratives of Complaint: Translingual Subjectivities in the Basic Writing Classroom." You can call me Dr. Cindy!
I moved to NJ in 2009 with my husband and 2 small children (they're giant teenagers now) from Tucson, Arizona where my extended family lives.  I'm from nowhere and everywhere. I was born in Monterey, California. Moved a lot throughout my life. Spent my formative years in Miami, Florida, where I learned how to drive and where I got my first jobs (in retail, hotels, and eventually film production).

I started teaching when I moved to China with my husband in 1999.  Yes, it was an amazing experience! We returned to the States to attend graduate school at the University of Arizona. Both my babies were born during this time.

The reason I teach writing is because I am driven by a deep and abiding love of language.  I am most interested in how language plays a part in our everyday lives, especially in electronic and popular media.  I am always looking for ways to incorporate interesting texts in my classes to engage students' interest.

My kids at Ceres Park where they like to mountain bike. I documented the moment my son rescued my daughter when she got scared crossing the creek on the felled tree.
